You must complete four modules: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking to obtain an IELTS Test Report Form.

You have a choice between Academic and General Training in the Reading and Writing modules. The total test time is two hours and 45 minutes.

ACADEMIC READING AND WRITING MODULES

The Academic Reading and Writing Modules assess whether a candidate is ready to study or train in English at an undergraduate or postgraduate level. Admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the UK, Australia, Canada or New Zealand is based on the results of these Modules.

If you want to study using English at undergraduate or postgraduate level or you are applying to nursing or medical councils, you should take the Academic Reading and Writing modules.

GENERAL TRAINING READING AND WRITING MODULES

If you are planning to undertake non-academic training or apply for immigration to Australia, Canada or New Zealand, usually you are required to take the General Training Reading and Writing modules.
