How to choose a course

Questions to ask before choosing a suitable course:

What qualification will I receive?
What are the main aims of the course? What will I learn?
How is it taught and who are the teachers?
What course materials are provided?
Will I be able to get hold of the books I need?
What support is available from the institution?
How is it assessed?
Who is responsible for setting and marking the exams?
How much does it cost?
When do I have to apply?

Check that the quality of the course and its provider are externally monitored and approved by a recognised body at the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) web site.

Before you apply make sure that the award you will receive at the end of your degree studies is from a recognised UK university or college of higher education.The list can be found on the Department for Education and Skills website.
