Accessing UK science

How science is structured in the UK

Our Guide to the organisation of science, engineering and technology in the UK offers a comprehensive picture of the way in which science and technology is organised in the UK. Research Councils

The UK Research Councils are independent public bodies responsible to the Department of Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS). They play a pivotal role in UK research, providing strategy and vision, working with leading researchers, industrialists and other research users to identify and map research opportunities as they emerge.

This ensures that the UK has the skilled researchers, research infrastructure and knowledge transfer processes to produce world -leading research and innovative technologies for UK industry.
