Herbert Puchta Foreign language teachers can make a difference: Leadership qualities vs. management skills

How do we make sure that teachers receive the development and training they need to provide excellent quality courses to students?

And how do we make sure that managers have the right developmental opportunities to enable them to manage effectively in an increasingly competitive market?

This conference explored the dual themes of how to plan and organise professional development for teachers and for managers in English language teaching. In addition to talks and workshops from the invited speakers above, the conference included seminars from managers and trainers who are working within the Russian context.

It included plenary talks, a closing panel discussion and there were parallel workshops on teacher and management professional development.

Pecha-Kucha evening became a very special feature of the conference. The key idea of Pecha Kucha - 20 images x 20 seconds. So the whole presentation lasts for 6 minutes 40 seconds and the slides move automatically. It's a format that makes presentations concise, and keeps things moving at a rapid pace.
