Fancy trying something new this Valentine’s Day? Come to the British Council!
Between 13 and 25 February, English is going on a date with literature, surprises and love at our libraries in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca and Iasi, within the “For English, with love” event.
To start off the week, on 14 February we’re inviting you to a bookdating session. Wrap one of your favourite books in a nice paper, stick a small note on it saying why it impressed you and bring it to your nearest British Council library. Leave it in the Red Corner to find a new owner and take somebody else’s favourite piece of writing back home!
And if the bookdate stirred your appetite for reading, come get a library membership anytime between 13 and 25 February and we’ll automatically enrol you in the Lovers’ Raffle! Every week during this period, you can be one of the three lucky new members who win two theatre tickets.
We have more surprises in store for you, but since every romance goes along well with a little mistery, why not visit the British Council libraries between 13 and 25 February and discover them yourself?

The @British library is celebrating winter holidays with a new generation of witty, colourful and eco-friendly bookbags.
The bookbags are made in partnership with Sacosa de Panza, a non-profit organisation which manufactures and sells environmentally-friendly bags, and they each have a tag with more infromation.
Come to the @British library to choose your favourite colour – blue or grey - and buy a bookbag for 25 lei. Can’t decide? Buy both of them and offer one as a present – after all, it’s the season!

Find out how champions debate!
Would you like to learn some tips on how to be more convincing? How about getting them from some of the greatest debaters in the world?
We are waiting for you at the first Debate Demonstrative Match on 12 December, between 17.30 – 18.30, at the @ British Library. The event is organized in partnership with ARDOR Muntenia and wants to promote debate as an extracurricular activity.The match will be held by some of the best Romanian debaters, who were finalists in the debate competition in Oxford this year.
If this Debate Demonstrative will spark your interest for other similar debate sessions, we invite you to join the Debate @British Club, where the ARDOR Muntenia professionals will teach you the art of argumentation and public speaking. The registration period is December 12 to January 10.
Explore new worlds with Discovery Week!
It’s difficult to put yourself in someone else’s shoes, but we are here to lend you a hand, with the second edition of Discovery Week – a project we have developed in partnership with Light into Europe charity, meant to create favourable contexts for the sensory impaired.
Stop by our library in Bucharest between 14 and 18 November for a chance to learn, play, explore and perceive the world around you differently! We have workshops and documentaries for the curious, quizzes and competitions for the savvy and fun games for adults and children alike.

Come and join Debate @ British, the debate club in English developed by the British Council and ARDOR Muntenia! On 1 September the library @British in Bucharest opens its gates for those who love books, films or want to learn more about British culture. New Practice materials for IELTS in Cluj-Napoca!
New preparation materials for IELTS are available at the library from the British Council Cluj-Napoca! The titles include: “IELTS Practice Test” – Peter May, “Achieve IELTS Practice Test Book” – A. Bazin, E. Boyd and “IELTS Practice Tests with Key” – M. Harrison, R. Whitehead.
Twice as many books during the summer in Cluj
The British Council centre in Cluj will be closed to the public during the summer, between 1-31 August. Therefore you will be allowed to keep all the materials you have borrowed between 11 and 29 July during your entire holiday. Moreover, because we know you like to read, between 25 and 29 July, the number of materials you can borrow will be doubled!

The British Council, in partnership with ARDOR Muntenia, organizes the first debate club in English for high school students! Interviews and registrations for Debate @British will take place between 2-6 May. Classes start on 9 May and end on 27 June, being held every Monday between 18.30 and 20.30. The enrolling fee is 500 lei.

Write a story with us for World Book Day!
On 3 March, celebrate World Book Day in the British Council libraries in Bucharest, Cluj and Iasi! Together with Decat o Revista, we give you the beginning of a story and then it’s up to you to complete it, sentence by sentence. As a reward, you will be given a 50% discount for all subscriptions and extra-options in our libraries.
New IT resources at the Iasi library!

Join the elite’s game with the first debate club in English, Debate @ British, organized by the British Council and ARDOR Muntenia. Interviews and registrations continue until 4 February, 2011, Monday to Friday between 10.00 and 17.00.
Take a library tour for a general view of our collections and services. You will find out about our collections and events. You will discover our newest acquisitions, what books and resources @British might be of use to you and the membership types we offer. At the end there will be a question and answer session, when you can ask for the details you need.
The tours are free of charge, but you should book a place in advance, by sending an e-mail at contact@britishcouncil.ro.
