Event:SPRINGBOARD IN JERUSALEM
Date: 6-9 February 2012
Location: Amman

As part of the launch of our new Springboard programme in Palestine, 32 women from Jerusalem will participate in a training workshop in Amman from 6-9 February 2012
The Springboard workshop covers a variety of topics, including improving the work/life balance; values and change; goals; assertiveness; communication; confidence; and motivation and creativity. The programme is evaluated during and after the workshops.
The workshops are run by trainers from the region using materials which have been specially developed for the Springboard programme. All the trainers on the programme are professional women who have been certified by both Springboard and the British Council. They attend an eight day full-time residential trainers’ licensing course prior to working with the programme. The training is conducted in partnership with the Women’s Studies Centre in Jerusalem and participants are selected from women who usually participate in the programmes of the Centre, in addition to Centre staff.

Event: Classroom Language Training
Date: 29 January - 2 February 2012
Location: Hebron University

We will conduct “Classroom Language” training in Hebron University for English language students from 29 January - 2 February 2012. The course will equip students with the skills and practices needed to teach a language class effectively and will incorporate methods of teaching that demonstrate how teachers can encourage the interest and participation of their students.

Event: British Dance Edition 2012

Khaled Ellayan, director of the Ramallah Contemporary Dance Festival, will take part in the British Dance Edition taking place from 2-5 February 2012 in London. Event: Internationalising of Higher Education Study Tour
Date: 5-10 February 2012
Location: United Kingdom

HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education, Mrs. Lamis Alami, accompanied by Palestinian university presidents and senior business executives, will visit the UK on a study tour from 5-10 February 2012. The tour aims to acquaint delegates with the UK’s university-industry culture and the role research plays in strengthening knowledge based economies.
The study tour also focuses on the internationalising of higher education by developing strategic partnerships between universities in the UK and Palestine to address global challenges and encourage links and research opportunities.  It is also intended to raise participants’ understanding of the relationship between policy and research practice and the link between research and the transfer of knowledge.

Event: McLaughlin and Zakir Hussein Performance
Date: 14 February 2012
Location: Ramallah Cultural Palace

When was the last time that you entertained your ears with wonderful music? Here is your chance to attend a performance that brings British jazz guru John McLaughlin and percussion guru Zakir Hussein together in Palestine. The performance will take part on 14 February 2012 at 6.00 pm in the Ramallah Cultural Centre and is organised by the Al Mada organization and UNRWA with the support of a number of partners. Event: Muscat Festival Management Workshop
Date: 20-22 February 2012
Location: Muscat/ Oman

Suad Rishmawi, the festival coordinator at Al.Kasaba theatre and cinematheque, will be attending a regional festival management workshop as part of the Muscat Festival 2012 from 20-22 February 2012. The workshop is organised by the British Council in Oman and aims to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to understand, plan, manage and run cultural festivals and events more efficiently. The 3-day programme will cover key areas like festival planning, strategy and identity, stakeholders and sponsors, programming, balancing risk, quality and audiences.

Event: Internationalisation of Higher Education Conference
Date: 21-22 February 2012
Location: Casablanca/ Morocco

A critical question is presented for discussion at the conference table of dialogue experts from the region, UK and EU meeting from 21-22 February 2012 in Morocco. Two speakers from the Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education will present conference papers on critical issues relating to higher education in the Middle East and North Africa, including employment and employability, leadership, management and entrepreneurship in higher education and the globalisation of higher education.

Event: Museums and Galleries Study Tour
Date: 20-24 February 2012
Location: United Kingdom

We will be supporting the visit of two members from the Palestine Art Court (Al.Hoash) to British museums and galleries from 20-24 February 2012 as part of the initiative to establish a Palestinian Arts Museum in Jerusalem. The visit falls under our Local Arts programme that aims to encourage creative exchange between Palestinian and UK artists and to establish long term ties between organisations and deepen cultural understanding.

Event: Script Development Workshop
Date: 21-25 February 2012
Location: Ramallah

In partnership with the Palestinian Cinema Group, we have invited Alan Fountain, Chief Executive and Head of Studies at the European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs (EAVE) and Clare Downs, one of Europe’s leading script tutors, to conduct a workshop on script development from 21-25 February at the Red Crescent Society Hall in Ramallah. The workshop will focus on script development and structure, film analysis and structure, presentation and pitching and moving from script to production.
