Read about the storytelling tradition

Changing times

The tradition of storytelling exists all over the world, both as stories told aloud and in their written form.  In many countries it is a recognised art form while in others it has lasted mainly in the form of parents telling their small children bedtime stories.

There is a common strain running through many stories, probably based on fears common to all people around the world, although local historical and political events have also been retold as stories in many countries.
