Course content
We offer secondary courses at a range of levels, from elementary to advanced. Courses are linked to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

Our courses
We design our courses to meet the learning needs and styles of this particular age group. Our courses

have clearly defined learning objectives, linked to CEFR
are built around  thematic modules which are contemporary and relevant to pupils’ ages, lives and interests
are task based; for example, students  may design and use a class survey and then write a report, or research a topic and give a presentation to their classmates
help pupils develop skills to express themselves in English and improve their ability to communicate effectively, in speaking and writing, in a range of contexts

Approach and methodology
Our students participate actively in their learning. Our approach:

is learner centred
encourages and assesses the development of good learning skills
emphasises learning by active participation and using the language to learn it

Our methodology involves:

students working on tasks and projects
work as a class, in groups, pairs, or by themselves
using a variety of resources, including IT, films and literature to help students  develop their English language skills

Assessment
Our secondary levels are linked to  the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) which describes in detail what pupils need to learn and be able to do at various levels in order to use a language to communicate.

students are assessed through a variety of written and spoken tasks throughout the year
self and peer assessment is an integral part of the assessment process
teachers counsel students on a regular basis to help establish clear learning goals
we report on progress to parents each term and invite parents in to discuss their child’s learning

International qualifications
Secondary students can enter for the Key English Test (KET) at A2 level, Preliminary English Test (PET) at B1 level, First Certificate in English (FCE) at B2 level and Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) at C1 level. More information on our examinations pages.
