Selector UK on Radio Roxy
British Council and Radio Roxy
present
The Selector UK show, every Saturday from 16.00 on Radio Roxy
THE SELECTOR - 'MORE RADICAL THAN MUSIC RADIO IN BRITAIN', THE GUARDIAN
The Selector is the international radio showcase for the best new music from the UK. The weekly two-hour programme covers all styles of contemporary music - you’ll hear indie, grime, dubstep, folk, soul, electro and everything else in between. Each show also features artist interviews and exclusive studio sessions from some of the most exciting artists in the UK.
Started by the British Council in 2001, the Selector reflects the richness and diversity of British music today. We aim to expose an international audience to new sounds and talents from the UK, and not just the same tunes that can be heard on an average pop/chart show.
The show is presented by Goldierocks and we currently broadcast in around 12 countries to an audience of over 1 million every week. Over time the Selector has developed a strong identity within the British music industry and in the countries across the world where it is broadcast. In 2005 it won the gold award at the prestigious Sony Radio Academy Awards for the best specialist weekly music programme, a prize for which the show was first nominated in only its second year.
