The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is an English language test, which assesses your ability in the four language skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking. Each skill is assessed and rated from one to nine.
Why should i take the test?
If you are going to study in the UK, Australia, New Zealand or Canada, an IELTS test result is accepted as evidence that you have the language skills needed for your course of study at most academic institutions. American academic institutions are increasingly accepting IELTS for admissions purposes also.
IELTS is accepted by many professional organisations including the New Zealand Immigration Service, the Australian Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs, the Australian Medical Council, the UK General Medical Council and the UK Ministry of Defence.
Many other organisations around the world use IELTS for other purposes such as entry onto training courses or work placement schemes.
What type of the test can i take?
All candidates take the same Listening and Speaking Modules and then choose between either Academic or General Training, Reading and Writing modules. Academic is suitable for candidates planning to undertake higher education study. General Training is suitable for the candidates planning to undertake non-academic training or work experience, or for immigration purposes.
