British Council in partnership with the Philippine Educational Theatre Association (PETA) presents Haring Lear on January 27, February 3, 10, 17-18 at the PETA Theatre Centre in New Manila. Set in present-day Manila, Shakespeare’s King Lear receives a fitting, royal makeover, fashioned by a pool of Filipino theatre giants.
The first ever Filipino adaptation of William Shakespeare’s King Lear skilfully translated by National Artist for Literature Bienvenido Lumbera and directed by acclaimed theatre director Nonon Padilla turns this epic classic into a modern-dress contemporary family drama; while Salvador Bernal, National Artist for Production Design establishes the dark aesthetic, settings and styles of the play.
Tickets may be purchased at the British Council beginning 07 January 2012. Ticket prices are Php 350.00 for regular seats and Php 500.00 for VIP seats.
