Yes! We are neighbours. The UK and Norway have enjoyed a close relationship throughout the years. We aim to highlight this special link through a range activities and events in 2005, under the thematic umbrella of NEIGHBOUR:NABO.

NORThSOUTHEASTWEST Exhibition

20th May- 14th June 2005, Rådhusplassen, Oslo
This photo exhibition showed real examples of our changing climate and the effects, as well as innovative ways of how people have adapted their lifestyles and responded in resourceful ways. The photos were accompanied by essays from the likes of Kofi Annan, Tony Blair and Leonardo DiCaprio, which was aimed at inspiring viewers to think in a new, more personal and creative way about climate change. Grab a beer, sit outside and make up your mind about climate change. What does it mean to you and what will you do about it? Two of the world's top experts, Tom Burke (UK), and Richard Lindzen (USA) go head-to-head on the importance of global warming. Is it an issue that we simply can't afford to take a chance on?

Policy debate: climate change

Climate change in policy making: approaches and implications
How can policy makers reach effective decisions on how to react to climate change? What does science really say about climate change today? These are two of the many questions which will be addressed by two of the most influential people in the climate change field today: Tom Burke (UK) and Richard Lindzen (USA) who have both advised their governments on climate change related issues.

Create your own green-dream

20th-23rd May 2005, 11am-4pm, Rådhusplassen (in front of Peace Centre)
Bring your kids along to contruct windmills, solar clocks and create their own eco-powered inventions. You can even design a UV warning badge for your mobile phone while your children become the inventors of tomorrow. Workshops will take place in a tent next to the NorthSouthEastWest exhibition and will be run by science communicator Keith Kelly from the UK. Norwegian speaking assistants will be present. Passer-bys are welcome.

GREEN FAIRYTALES

Anker Brua in Oslo, also known as The Fairytale Bridge, will be closed to motorised traffic and decorated with grass from 10 am on 17 September. Come share your thoughts on urban development and the future development of the Akerselva area, with London based Public Works feeding your ideas back to the authorities. More info.
