Academic Requirements    

What you must achieve to graduate from the Business Education Initiative   

In order to graduate from the Business Education Initiative you must fulfil the following criteria:

  1. 4 Business modules plus an additional module each semester
  2. Grade Point Average of 3.0
  3. Complete a business related project to be supervised and marked by a member of your home institution

Below is a list of the academic expectations for each student

•Minimum 15 hours study per week

•Internship with US business (desirable)

•Completion of voluntary/community work whilst in America

•Ambassadorial role - make 3 presentations per semester

•Room with a US Student in a double dorm

•Develop employability skills such as team-working, presentation and communication skills which you then bring back to NI

Students who score less than an average Grade Point of 2.5 and are not able to provide a valid reason for a poor score will be withdrawn from the program and returned home to Northern Ireland when the result becomes known.

Any student who withdraws from the programme at any point during the year will have to reimburse the British Council for the cost of their flight.

Classes

Students must complete 24 business credits and 6 electives in order to graduate from the BEI programme.

Each class is worth 3 credits with the exception of some Universities where a class will equal 4 credits.
