Green Africa Project

Go Green, Save Life

Our actions today, may save our lives tomorrow.

The Green Africa Project is an initiative of British Council Nigeria to contribute to the reduction and mitigation of environmental concerns in our world today and create a more sustainable environment for our future.

The increasing population, urbanisation, industrialisation and our unsustainable lifestyles in general, is now creating huge problems for our environment. Emerging statistics show that there is a strong indication of Climate change as a result of many different kinds of pollution through our ways of living.

The consequences of these are being felt now and could be worse in the future. This has called for dramatic action by the international development community, which British council is responding to.

We aim to enlighten ourselves on the environmental problem and to look at different practical ways that we could help in reducing the problem in our immediate society and the nation as a whole, this we hope to achieve through Campaign, Group discussions, Debates, and Workshops.

We will collaborate with several international and local organisations where necessary on environmental sustainability issues in the country, most particularly in capacity building, and Knowledge transfer.

We hope to be at the forefront in advocacy by seeking to influence positive decisions on the issue of environmental sustainability in Nigeria.

To achieve this, we work through three approaches:

Education awareness programmes on environmental sustainability:
We aim to enlighten ourselves on environmental issues and look at practical ways in which we can help reduce the problems in our immediate society and the nation as a whole. This we hope to achieve through campaigns, group discussions, debates, and workshops.

Partnering with environment-conscious organisations to deliver a practical approach on how we can combat the emerging environmental problem:
We will collaborate with international and local organisations where necessary on environmental sustainability issues in the country, particularly in capacity building and knowledge transfer.

Advocacy with policy makers on environmental issues:
We aim to be at the forefront in advocacy by seeking to influence positive decisions on the issue of environmental sustainability in Nigeria.

We work through four projects with different activities for all and they include:ustainability in Nigeria.
