The University of Nottingham is a dynamic and successful institution, located in the heart of the UK, and consistently ranks among the top-10 British universities. It is a member of the Russell Group of universities (Britain’s equivalent to the Ivy League). The University’s excellent reputation for research is internationally recognised and was boosted in 2003 by the award of two Nobel Prizes for Economics and for Medicine.
The University offers a wide range of social, cultural and recreational facilities (including a sports hall and grounds, restaurants, bars, art gallery and a theatre). There is also a support network of pastoral care, medical services and student counsellors. These are conveniently located on and around our campuses. Our Students’ Union provides extensive support, entertainment, clubs and societies, and opportunities to get involved in student life and the community.
Nottingham is a vibrant city, which has an excellent concert hall, two professional theatres, cinemas and numerous restaurants, bars and pubs. With more sports facilities per head of population than anywhere else in Europe there are plenty of opportunities to both watch and join a wide range of sports at such world-class venues as the National Ice Stadium and Britain’s National Watersports Centre.
Public transport provides fast access to many of the country's major cities, including London. Major international airports such as Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester are only a train or coach trip away and offer international flights to destinations all around the world. East Midlands airport, 20 minutes away from Nottingham, offers many flights within Europe.
