In the spring of 2006 we completed the refurbishment of our front office and relocated our customer service staff into the area. Another development was the restructuring of our library services. As a result of this:
We are no longer a lending library
There is no membership, and therefore the use of our library resources is free
We have reduced our stock
We continue, however, to hold the following items
Books and cassettes which support English language teaching and learning
Books and cassettes which support studying for British examinations
Newspapers and periodicals
Computers with internet access
A reference section of dictionaries and encyclopaedias
In addition, in a separate room, we have a children’s library which can be used by children who are enrolled in our children’s English language classes.
You can use the adult section of the library at any time when the British Council is open to the public, which currently is 8am until the end of our English classes: 9.50pm on Sundays to Wednesdays, and until 7:15pm on Thursdays. We are closed on Fridays and Saturdays.
Library regulations
We would be grateful if you could observe a few simple rules which will make life easier for staff and users alike:
Please do not bring food or drink into the library
If you have your children with you, please ensure that they behave quietly. They should not use resources, such as the computers, which are intended for adult users
We regret that due to copyright laws, we cannot allow materials to be photocopied
And please switch off your mobile phones
