Medical exams

Orange lozenge left

We can help you to take medical qualifications with some of the UK's most respected medical organisations. You can register directly with the bodies in the UK, or through institutions in your country offering courses leading to these awards. We can then arrange the exams at one of our centres. For more information about taking a medical exam, please contact the exams team in your country: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Yemen.

Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP)
The MRCP UK exam plays an essential role in the overall educational experience and continuing professional development of physicians in the UK. It is a pre-requisite for physicians wishing to undergo training in a medically-related speciality in the UK. Visit the MCRP UK website.

Member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH)
You can take MRCPCH Part 1 and 2 exams at many of our centres. Prospective doctors must have been medically qualified for at least eighteen months. The closing dates for all overseas applications are six to seven weeks before the UK closing dates. Your local organiser (Ministry of Health) will be able to inform you of the closing date. For further information and contact details, visit the MRCPCH website. You can also e-mail the the MRCPCH Exams Department.

Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS)
The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow enjoys a unique and privileged position among its sister colleges in the UK in that both physicians and surgeons (including dentists) make up its Membership and Fellowship. Exams (written, oral and clinical) play a crucial part in the maintenance of standards. Today, the College annually examines over 5,000 candidates worldwide. Visit the FRCS website.

Professional and Linguistic Assessment Board Test (PLAB)
Postgraduate medical studies in the UK can be very rewarding, and a great boost to your career. However, to practise medicine in the UK, doctors who hold an acceptable medical qualification from medical schools outside the European Economic Area can apply for limited registration with the General Medical Council (GMC). However, doctors must provide objective evidence of their ability to practise medicine in the UK. One of the routes towards getting limited registration with the GMC is by taking the PLAB test. For further information about PLAB1, test dates and advice, please visit the General Medical website.
