‘I would like to transfer my warmest appreciations at first to the British Council staff for all their time spent and concern. During the whole time of the seminar people from British Council were providing brilliant opportunities to continue proffesional dialogue between creative entrepreneurs from 25 countries, representing wide range of subjects, acting in global publishing industry. I am very proud for being one of the participants of the program and for the chance to represent Lithuanian publishing industry, in the recent years sustaining probably the most rapid growth'.
Tomas S. Butkus, IYPY 2004 participant
The International Young Publisher of the Year (IYPY) Competition is open to young entrepreneurial candidates working in any area of publishing (publishing, bookselling, editing, literary agency, etc.). The goal of the award is to identify, nurture and stimulate the next generation of leaders for the publishing industry within the international community.
This initiative is an innovative collaboration between us and London Book Fair to identify and nurture the international publishing industry’s next generation of leaders. Central to this concept is the belief that the UK – both at and beyond London Book Fair – is a fertile ground for international networking.
Tomas Butkus (Editor-in-Chief, Vario Burnos Publisher) and Saulius Petrulis (Sales and Project Manager, Eugrimas Publishing House) were selected finalists to represent Lithuania at IYPEY in 2004 and 2006 respectively.
