Skills@Work Challenge

A competition for young entrepreneurs

The

Skills@Work Challenge

, (a partnership between the Junior Achievement Europe and the British Council), is an enterprise competition for young people aged 15-18 in vocational schools in nine countries in South East Europe (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Israel, Macedonia, Romania and Serbia) and the UK.

How does the Skills@Work Challenge work?

It is a national and international competition that encourages young people to use their skills in enterprising and innovative ways, ultimately increasing their employability and entrepreneurial flair.

More than 2,000 students took part in the 2008/09 national competitions, where the business community gave the students a challenge which they had to solve within just a few hours and make a presentation in front of the jury.

The first

Skills@Work International Challenge

took place in Sofia on 11-12 March 2009. 60 young people, winners of their national competitions, came together to solve a business challenge within 12 hours. Watch this video to find out more.

In 2009/10, we plan to run the second series of Skills@Work national and international competitions. The International Final is going to be held in Serbia in April 2010.

For more information about the project and how you or your organisation can take part, please contact Narek Tovmasyan, Skills@Work Challenge coordinator.
