What funding opportunities are currently available?
We are pleased to invite proposals from UK higher education institutions (HEIs) to work in partnership with HEIs in South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia to develop and deliver collaborative programmes.
We will be funding up to 12 projects between the UK and these four countries in East Asia. Recent market research has indicated that Indonesia currently has a very limited number of collaborative delivery programmes with UK partners and therefore at least two projects will be funded in Indonesia, with the other projects being funded based on merit and not country quota allocation. All projects must demonstrate mutual and / or complementary benefits to both sides of the partnership.
Funding is available as follows:
For full awards: Total funding will be over two years. Year one is to a maximum of GBP 20,000 with the assumption that this will extend for into year two up to a maximum of GBP 17,000 on the basis of satisfactory outputs and proposals for building on the first year experience.Bidding opened on 14 September 2009 and the deadline for e-copies is 1730 GMT on 10 February 2010. The deadline for hard copies with supporting letters in 25 February 2010.

What types of partnerships have been funded previously?
Fourteen partnerships were funded in 2007 / 2008. Programmes being developed include Vietnam’s first media management programme, a partnership bewteen University of Stirling and University of Danang, and a certificate in Fundamentals of Arts & Play Therapies in Malaysia, a partnership between Roehamption University and University Science Malaysia.
