Global Xchange

Young people active in the community   

Global Xchange  is a partnership programme managed and delivered by the British Council, Voluntary Service Overseas  and other local partners around the world. We develop international volunteer exchanges and other activities to help create active global citizens who value volunteering, diversity, community development and social action.

Our vision is a world of mutual understanding where people act together for a fair and inclusive society.

OUR WORK

Most of our work involves facilitating volunteering exchanges to give young people from the UK and different countries a unique opportunity to work together for months, to develop and share valuable skills and to make a practical contribution where it is needed in local communities.

Global Xchange is a way for young people to make a real difference to the world by living, learning and working together. Volunteering with local organisations, volunteers learn about the issues and challenges facing the communities they are in and work together as a team aim to help.

As well as giving volunteers the chance to support the fight against poverty, Global Xchange helps participants learn skills employers’ value. Communication, problem solving, negotiation – skills that can’t be learnt in a lecture theatre or a classroom.
