role of the Chair

The Chair of the Scotland Advisory Committee leads the Committee in the pursuit of its aims and is also expected to serve a term as a Trustee of British Council, a responsibility shared with Chairs from Wales and Northern Ireland.

The Chair leads four meetings a year of the Scotland Advisory Committee as well as attending other relevant British Council meetings and functions from time to time, occasionally hosting events, and commenting on the papers for the Council’s Board of Trustees six times a year.

The Chair gives an average time commitment of one or two days per month to fulfil the role. This time commitment is likely to rise by an additional 1.5 days per month during the two years that the Chair is expected to serve on the Board of Trustees.
