Our Organisation

We are the United Kingdom's international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations.    
We are incorporated by Royal Charter.   
We are a registered charity (not-for-profit organisation) and operate as an executive non-departmental public body.   
We receive a grant in aid from the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office.   
Our patron is Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.   

Impact in the World

We operate in over 100 countries.   
We welcome 8.5 million visitors.   
IELTS reached 938,000 candidates in 2007.   
We employ 1,750 teachers who teach over a million class hours of English to 325,000 students in 53 countries.   
We collaborate in over 1,700 arts events each year.   

Impact in Japan

We attract 840,000 visitors a year to our Japan website.    
We welcome over 36,000 visitors a year to our event space in Tokyo.   
We teach 17,000 learners onsite and offsite annually in Tokyo and Osaka.   
We welcome over 2,500 visitors at our annual Education UK Exhibition held in Tokyo and Osaka.
