Global school partnerships are a powerful and exciting way of bringing a global dimension into the lives of young people and their teachers. Successful partnerships have a profound and lasting impact on those involved. The programme can provide guidance, professional development opportunities and grants to schools that are using school partnerships as a means for developing a global dimension within their curriculum.
DFID Global School Partnerships promotes partnerships between schools in the UK and schools in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean.
The programme is a consortium initiative of the British Council, Cambridge Education Foundation, UK One World Linking Association (UKOWLA) and Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO), funded by the Department for International Development (DFID).
Ultimately, the programme hopes to increase awareness amongst education professionals of the benefits of school partnerships and the value of embedding a global dimension within the formal curriculum. We also aim to contribute to a greater appreciation within the wider community of the value of partnerships between developed and developing countries.
