Teaching Methodology

Our teaching method is an eclectic mix of the most recent innovations in language teaching methodology and is based on the latest findings in linguistic research.

We realise that no one method suits everyone: our teachers select the best from various methods according to the learning styles and needs of their students.

Our teaching programmes are designed to:

develop all four basic language skills (speaking, listening, reading, writing) with special emphasis on confidence and oral fluency
help students to understand how the language works through activity based tasks
create opportunities to actively use the language through pair and group work
help students to develop language learning strategies appropriate to their own personal learning styles
teach students to become autonomous learners so that they can take every opportunity to improve their communicative competence

These priorities have determined the following aspects of our teaching methodology:

Courses are divided into levels in order to make class groups as homogeneous as possible.
Lessons take place in English to give you maximum possible exposure to the language.
The format of the lesson varies: at different times the focus is on grammar, on pronunciation, on reading skills or other aspects of language learning.Pair and group work play a very important role in our teaching because they allow everyone to participate in activities at the same time.
Your course-book has been very carefully chosen and forms the basis of the syllabus but it is used selectively and your teacher will use a wide range of other resources: audio and visual materials, the best in published texts and school produced materials.
You will be encouraged to use the resources of the Multimedia Centre which can make an invaluable contribution to your language learning and in addition to the Internet, you will find a range of computer programmes.
