Michael Clark

Returns to the Maison des Arts de Créteil

“For me, rock is vital. It shaped me as an individual before it even began to influence my work as an artist”

Michael Clark’s newest creation has developed out of his admiration for the Holy Trinity of rock: David Bowie, Iggy Pop and Lou Reed, who worked in close proximity throughout the 1970s. Indeed, his new project includes the cult song “Heroes” by Bowie.

Voted by The Independent as the most iconoclastic artist in British dance, Michael Clark’s work mixes classical influence and contemporary sensitivity; he combines confusion, doubt and fear as well as grace, virtuosity and technique. He is known for his legendary collaborations with musicians, fashion designers and visual artists such as Wire, BodyMap, Leigh Bowery, Trojan and Sarah Lucas.
