CHEVENING JOINTLY FUNDED SCHOLARSHIPS

Many UK institutions and commercial companies provide financial support to the Chevening candidates. These joint programmes are part of main Chevening programme. They are only available to the Chevening candidates who apply for one of the institutions of the joint programme.

HSBC CHEVENING SCHOLARSHIP

Open for Applications for 2012-13

The HSBC Chevening Scholarship offers three full scholarships for Indian citizens towards one-year Master courses / post graduate Masters Programme at any accredited UK University. These three scholarships are for subjects relating to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s Foreign Policy Priority of ‘Building prosperity by increasing exports and investment, opening markets, ensuring access to resources, and promoting sustainable global growth’.

Subjects: Finance, Economics & Environmental Studies.

Each scholarship covers the following:

Full Programme fees   
Accommodation and living expenses for the duration of the scholarship for a maximum period of 12 months   
Return airfare   
Student Visa (for study visit)   

It is the responsibility of the applicants to identify a suitable Masters programme and apply for a course beginning in September / October 2012 and also ensure secured admission.

Chevening Weidenfeld Scholarship at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford

The Chevening - Weidenfeld Scholarships offer a one year Public Policy Masters Degree at the Blavantnik School of University of Oxford to potential leaders and young professionals looking to study at the University of Oxford.The scholarships are open to Master of Public Policy (MPP) candidates from selected countries in Eastern Europe, the Causasus, North Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, India and Indonesia.

Candidates should apply directly to the university website.

Eligibility Criteria: To be considered for the Chevening-Weidenfeld Scholarships, a candidate must be applying to the Master of Public Policy Programme at the University of Oxford. be an ordinary resident of one of the following countries: Afganistan, Albania, Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Hezegovina, Egypt, FYR Macedonia, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Krgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya, Mongolia, Moldova, Montenegro, Morocco, Palestine Authority, Serbia, Syrian Arab Republic, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Ukzebekistan, Yemen

Chevening Scholarships on the Clore Leadership Programme 2012/13: Open for applications

Deadline for applications is 4 March 2012

The Chevening Clore Leadership Programme aims to shape emerging creative leaders through in-depth learning. It is tailored as far as possible to the needs, aspirations and circumstances of the individual. Each year, fellowships for this programme are awarded  to exceptional cultural leaders from the UK and beyond.

Fellows come from diverse backgrounds, they may be working freelance or within organisations, both large and small, in areas ranging from archives to theatre production, and including visual and performing arts, film and digital media, heritage, creative industries, museums, libraries and cultural policy.

The successful candidates will be based in the UK for a period of approximately four months spread over two periods;

for two to three weeks in September 2012 which will include the first residential leadership course and    
for approximately three months between April and August 2013, to include the second residential leadership course   

Each Scholar will have access to a bursary of up to £14,000 to cover the costs of Scholarship including course and conference fees, travel, accommodation, subsistence, training and development.

The candidates atleast have a total of 5 year experience in the arts and cultural sector; either in employment, self-employed or freelance sector.

The Chevening Clore scholars will finally be nominated by British High Commission.

Chevening Hansard Research Internship Closed for Applications

The programme includes attending presentations from eminent figures within the British political system – from former Cabinet Ministers to prominent political journalists and academics in addition to the unrivalled cultural experience of living and working in a foreign country.

The UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office awards Chevening scholarships for the spring and summer Hansard Research Scholars Programmes. The Hansard Research Scholars Programme offers international students unique and prestigious opportunities to undertake an internship placement right at the heart of British politics and also provides an invaluable knowledge and understanding of the world

The scholarship normally covers the Programme fee, a maintenance allowance and a return economy airfare

Chevening/BG/Cambridge Scholarships Closed for applications

FCO Chevening in collaboration with BG and Cambridge Trusts offers scholarships at the University of Cambridge for one-year postgraduate courses of study. To be eligible: applicants should already hold an Indian Passport, must apply for an eligible course and must not be, or be related to, a BG employee The scholarships normally covers the University fee ,a maintenance allowance and a return economy airfare. Suitably qualified candidates must apply for admission to the University of Cambridge by submitting a Graduate Application Form to the Board of Graduate Studies.

Chevening UNEP - WCMC Scholarship Closed for applications

The scheme aims to help young professionals prepare for a role in national and regional policy development and decision – making to resolve biodiversity related challenges. Selected candidates work alongside UNEP-WCMC staff, helping to enhance the Centre’s knowledge base on biodiversity and its conservation, and supporting preparation of information products and services to decision makers ranging from UNEP to the private sector and from governments to the international environmental agreements

Successful candidates are graduates with proven academic skills with a clear idea about how their scholarship and use it to succeed in their chosen career and clear about how their scholarships will benefit their country on their return

Each scholarship is currently worth £9,754 per annum, including all allowances and economy airfare.

Chevening/Rio Tinto/ Dundee Scholarships Closed for applications

These scholarships are offered by Rio Tinto plc, the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and CEPMLP as part of their partnership activities which acknowledge the importance of contributing to sustainable mineral resources development worldwide. The Scholarships are for the study of the Masters of Law (LLM) Mineral Law and Policy at the University of Dundee’s Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) .

The one-year LLM in Mineral Law and Policy aims to provide students with the interdisciplinary knowledge and skills to deal with current  and future legal, policy and economic issues and challenges faced by host governments, international institutions, companies, investors and other stakeholders in managing the complexities of mineral resources investment and development in an increasingly integrated global economy.

To be eligible applicants should hold a degree of an equivalent standard to at least a good UK second class honours degree, display intellectual ability and leadership potential, be aresident of India and have a proven track record and potential to rise to positions of influence.

The Scholarship covers both academic tuition fees and living expenses for 12 months

Oxford University Foreign Service Programme (OUFSP) Closed for applications

The University of Oxford offers a postgraduate course of studies in diplomacy. The OUFSP has for many years brought together diplomats in early-to-mid career for a course lasting a full academic year, from early October to late June. It’s graduates now occupy a large number of senior posts in the international field.

Most FSP members are established diplomats proposed for the course by their governments, who return to their practical career work after the course is over. They must have a good honours degree and specific experience of working in the international field which will enable them to contribute to as well as benefit from the programme.
