INDIA AND SRILANKA

A S Hornby Educational Trust

Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) – Put theory into practice
The Hornby School programme will support secondary teachers to embed classroom based continuous assessment into their everyday practice. Having explored the principles and theory behind CCE, participants will be guided through a series of practical sessions. These sessions will look at student friendly ways of assessing reading, writing, speaking and listening during which participants will get hands on experience of planning, practicing and then receiving feedback on assessment tasks - all in a supportive environment. At the end of five days everyone can look forward to taking away a bank of tasks which can be utilised in classrooms across India.

A S Hornby Educational Trust
The Hornby Schools are run with the support of the A S Hornby Educational Trust.  The Trust was established in 1961 by A S Hornby, an English language teacher in Japan, who authored the first Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary (OALD).

Hornby Schools
In the UK, the Hornby School programme is recognised as one of the most prestigious initiatives in the field of English Language Teaching (ELT). Each year the programme has enabled teachers to develop their expertise and upgrade their English teaching skills. In India and Sri Lanka, Hornby School programme has been running since 2000 and have helped directly train over 1500 teachers, many of whom have cascaded the workshops to hundreds of teachers across the country.
