The Daily Anorak
An alternative daily, which parodies both the broadsheets and the tabloids.
BBC News
Excellent for news and very good for clearly written in-depth articles about current and recent events. With the
Archives you can search electronically back to November 1997.
Talking Points features a short article and then (edited, and usually concise) contributions from readers. Students can check the voting, and send in their own contributions.
The Guardian
The Guardian website is sometimes quirky and has some interesting sections, especially the searchable 'Notes and Queries'.
The South China Morning Post
Award winning online edition. Very well designed, attractive and easily accessible. The SCMP Internet Edition carries all the main stories. Simple registration is needed.
The Times
The 'Interactive Times' is probably the best UK newspaper on the Internet. It is well designed and easy-to-use.
Private Eye
You’ll need Microsoft's Netshow and Flash before they will let you in, but it is well worth downloading them. This website complements rather than competes with the paper version and has some excellent cartoon sequences.
Slate
Probably the best (i.e. most literate and thoughtful) online magazine around. It commonly includes more comment than news, though it always carries links to news sites. Appears daily (USA).
Cosmopolitan
Superbly designed fashion magazine for young women.
The Economist
Britain's best weekly news magazine carries only selected articles, but the entire current issue and archives are searchable for subscribers.
National Geographic
Very rich website, full of interesting articles with quizzes, online expeditions and much more.
GQ
Like most Conde Nast magazines on the Internet, the electronic version does not replicate the paper one, but tries to add value with such items as daily jokes, cartoons, competitions, email etc. However, there is often space for material for which there is not enough room in the printed version: more reviews, surveys and sometimes more in-depth articles.
Another magazine from Conde Nast is
Conde Nast Traveller
