Business courses

If you need to use English effectively to communicate at work and want to improve your knowledge of international business communications in practice, then these courses are for you.

There are two modules which can be taken in any order:

• Speaking for Business

Speaking for Business course is a course aimed at professional business people of upper intermediate level and above. It will help you to communicate more clearly and concisely in the workplace.

The course will focus on speaking and listening in meetings, negotiations and on the telephone. It will help you to gain an understanding of the language and conventions of these different types of speaking and will address common areas of miscommunication.

• Writing for Business

Writing for Business course is a course aimed at professional business people of upper intermediate level and above. It will help you to communicate more clearly and concisely in written business English.

The course will provide practice in the writing of business e-mails, letters and reports. It will help you to gain an understanding of the layout, convention and style of these different types of business writing and will address common areas of miscommunication.

Once you know your level you may take each module in any order you like. Both modules contain a balanced mix of skills work and language input and are designed to help you improve generally.

Presentation skills

Our Presentation Skills course will help you:

prepare effective presentations
make sure your presentation is audience-focussed
use techniques to enhance your presentations
develop appropriate intonation and body language
use visual aids and other resources effectively

This course aims to improve the effectiveness of your presentations. It covers all aspects of making and preparing spoken presentations. We'll encourage you to learn practically. Participants are videotaped as part of the course and the tape is used to analyse and improve performance.
