Karan Sehgal

Karan Sehgal (International Climate Change Champion 2008) is a class XII student from Delhi Public School. He possesses a very deep intact knowledge on the subject but creates no hassles in calling himself a ‘layman’ in the area. He yearns to learn more and advocate more on the Climate change issues both in his school and his community. At his own level he feels environmental concerns is not a pedantic knowledge but active participation to make this world a better place.

Aaditya Kumar

Aaditya Kumar a class XII student from Sanskriti School, New Delhi is a go getter and loves challenges. For him youth stands for ‘Vitality’ and says that the best way to predict the future is to create it. He stongly believes and claims that, ‘we are the change we want to see’. That’s where he and his small group of freinds have brought in ‘Gift-a-tree’ on the Valentine’s day instead of gifting a rose to your fiancé and also the “batti bandh” campaign – switch off your lights everyday for about 15 minutes.

Aaditi Sinha

Aaditi Sinha a student of Computer Engineering from Lovely Professional University, Jallandhar, has both Indian and International presence of a young presenter who effectively communicates to motivate classes and masses on climate change issues. At such a young age she has had many international exposures through various international and national competitions. One of which is receiving the “RANK” award from President of India in July 2007 and the other is to become a Indian Climate Champion 2008.

Shagun Arora

Shagun Arora from Amity International School, New Delhi in her own sweet but subtle manner believes that she has that pushing force that can help her re-introduce the new and healthy earth. For her, no revolution can be orchestrated without a strong “desire” and not one but all should have a holistic and ecological view of the world.  It’s not about being an environmentalist but about being a warrior.

Dhruv Sengar

Dhruv Sengar a class XII student from Seth MR Jaipuria School, Lucknow, is a technofreek . His hobbies include reading, playing football and solving mind games. He is a good painter and diligently believes that he has the strength to convert thoughts into action. He also believes that he can build up the sense of gratitude and affection for environment in the people.

Jaswanth Madhavan

Jaswanth Madhavan (International Climate Champion 2008) is a student of Class XI from Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan School, Chennai. A champ in this field having already won many accolade - Green Olympiad 2006, Semi finalist in Terraquiz, 3rd and 2nd place in INCA National Map Quiz in 2005 and 2006, Global winner in Solar-cities Competition 2008 and attended the Solar Cities Congress in Adelaide, Australia. His varied interest suggests his versatility that includes gardening, playing the mridangam, cricket, tennis, quizzing and is very keen on how to develop India.

Agastya Muthana

Agastya Muthanna is already an active activist in the arena of Climate Change. His confident and practical approach to the problem has led him to bring out inexpensive chemical exhaust cleanser. He studies Class XI in Mallya Aditi International School, Bangalore. Ingrained in him is the reverence for nature and the empathy which makes him a go-getter realistic in his approach. He has given many presentations in his School neighbourhood and is a part of the NGO – WASI in preserving trees. He enjoys Public Speaking and his ambition is to become an Economist.

Ann Raymond

Ann Raymond is a student of Bhavans Vidya Mandir, Cochin, Class XI. She is cheerful, an avid reader, creative and a passionate environmentalist. She would like to be known in future as ‘an aware citizen and a responsible member of the society'. Her interests include books, music and movies. She is well aware of her immediate surroundings and the pollution plaguing her city, a part of the ‘God’s Own Country’ and is confident that her passion for Mother Earth can instil a change by using her effective communication skills.

Archana Jayaraman

Archana Jayaraman is a student of Class XI studying in Sri Sankara Senior Secondary School, Chennai. Up to date with current affairs and is enthusiastic about Climate Change and the issues that India is facing due to it. Being a responsible youth, she states that Climate Change should not be the ideal hereditary gift from the predecessors. According to her, awareness must be brought to all on Climate Change to bring about the desired effect and to see the difference between a savaged Earth and a Living Earth.

Shruti K N

Shruti K N, a Class XI student of Sri Sankara Senior Secondary School, Chennai is a youngster passionate about Geography. Her interest in Geography has been a source of inspiration in understanding Climate Change. Her humble attitude, spontaneity, interest in places and the subject has moulded her to become one among the 20 Indian Climate Champions. She believes that people along with the help of the Government will be able to reduce emissions through Constructive measures.

Aishwarya Padmaraj

Aishwarya Padamaraj, from St Xavier’s College, Mumbai says, “Sixteen years and out to solve the world’s problems – this statement would probably surmise me. And yet, my mind scoffs at the notion. Who are you? It asks, to fight where great statesmen are failing? Who are you to preach? Show them who you are, says my heart, someone who cares enough to want to act. Climate change is major issue today and today is when we have to battle it.”

Gautam Akiwate

Gautam Akiwate 17 from Fergusson College, Pune says, 'My motto, Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish’ – just so that you dream big, just so that you try new things, just so that you try hard and never give up. I have a dream – it is that in the due course of my life I change at least one life for the good. The reason I think I can be a good Climate Champion is because I walk my talk.”

Rohit Chakravarty

Rohit Chakravarty 16 from Centre Point School, Nagpur says, “Being an aspiring biologist, I am dedicated to the cause of conserving Mother Nature. The work of NGOs in tackling climate change is commendable, but it may not have the required effects unless individuals support the cause and contribute their bit. Small steps by all of us can have a significant impact. After all, if many of us do a little, a lot gets done.”

Saud Bhoira

Saud Bhoira 16 from R D National College, Mumbai says, “It is better to light a candle than curse the darkness. I believe in setting a practical example by all possible acts to protect the environment and slow down the process of global warming, within my personal capacity, while enlightening those who curse the present state of affairs. I believe in the spirit of ‘together we can, and together we will!”

Nidhi Patel

Nidhi Patel, (International Climate Champion) 16, from New Era Senior Secondary School, Vadodara says, “Today when we raise our voice to enlighten people about climate change, the scenario is something like this - as if we are standing in a room full of people and shouting aloud but nobody is listening! One thing is apparently very clear and certain that the community at large needs to be awakened.”

Rishika Das Roy

Rishika Das Roy is 17 and a student of Modern High School for Girls in Kolkata (West Bengal). With an interest in public speaking she regularly participates in elocutions, debates and event compering. Dramatics, reading, films, travelling and social work are her other interests. She was also engaged in teaching underprivileged children at various NGOs. Her research interests range from Marx to Daisaku Ikeda besides the human psyche. With a motto "Be the change you want to see", Rishika is very passionate about communicating the issues of Climate Change to the community and is elated that recent scientific evidences have convinced the world that climate change is a real threat and needs urgent action to mitigate the impact.

Vishnupriya Das

Vishnupriya Das is 17 and student of Calcutta International School in Kolkata (West Bengal). An optimist, she believes that if each individual starts to change for the better, all obstacles can be overcome. It is with this mindset that she is communicating the message of Climate Change and mitigation to the community.

Angshuman Hazarika

Angshuman Hazarika is 17 and student of Sanskriti The Gurukul in Guwahati (Assam). He has been a State Level Child Scientist of National Children’s Science Congress for three years. Angshuman is a regular quizzer, debater and has participated in many science competitions. He is a passionate crusader on Climate Change issues in his home state of Assam and tries to impress upon the community the gravity of the alarming situation and possible mitigation measures.

Parnika Praleya

Parnika Praleya is 17 and student of Loyola School in Jamshedpur (Jharkhand). From a very young age her parents inculcated in her the concern for a clean and green environment. She actively spreads awareness on Climate Change issues in her community and her life's mission is to become an Environment activist. She regularly participates in essay writing competitions, debates and cleaning drives.

Goodly Kar

Goodly Kar is 17 and student of Stewart School in Bhubaneswar (Orissa). She is a student of science and plans to pursue higher studies on Environment and Climate Change. Goodly spreads the message of Climate Change issues and possible mitigation measures in her home state of Orissa. She also regularly participates in extra-curricular activities organised by her school.
