Opportunities for teachers to work in the USA

Fulbright Teacher Exchange

Designed in 1924, the Fulbright UK/US Teacher Exchange programme is run by the British Council in collaboration with the US Department of State.  Each academic year, around twenty teachers from the UK have the opportunity to conduct research, study, live and work in the USA for up to one academic year.

What is Fulbright UK/US Teacher Exchange?        

Interested in spending an autumn term or a full academic year teaching in the United States?  You can gain valuable international teaching experience, immerse yourself in a different culture and even earn 60 credits towards a Master's Degree.  Find out about the Fulbright UK/US Teacher Exchange programme, the application process and accreditation.   

Application Deadline        

The deadline to apply for an exchange in 2013 is Friday 7 December 2012.

Thanksgiving day celebration        

Pupils at Bliss Primary School, in Nether Heyford Northhamptonshire, celebrated Thanksgiving Day by tucking into pumpkin pie alongside an exchange teacher from the USA.
American Fullbright exchange teacher, Sallie Hunter, who has been transferred to Northamptonshire from Maine USA, helped pupils mark the American public holiday and learn more about American culture.
