  • developing their receptive skills of listening and reading
  • improving knowledge and use of vocabulary

Course Objectives

Your child will work towards achieving a number of learning outcomes which relate to the way the language is used in real life situations and in the exam and are designed to help them develop their language skills in practical ways.

By the end of the semester 1, students will be able to:

  • use appropriate strategies in order to complete exam type reading and listening tasks
  • use appropriate strategies to complete exam type writing tasks
  • record and recall words, expressions and phrases
  • use appropriate vocabulary when talking about; communicating, health, home, music, and success

Course Content

The course book is Get on Track to FCE. Focussing on the most relevant material from the book, the teacher will also supplement the course with other resources to ensure that lessons stimulate your child to learn.

As a SUE student of the British Council, your child will have free access to the Multi-Media Study Centre (MMSC) our self-study facility on the 3rd floor of our centre in Admiralty. The MMSC contains a wide variety of materials, including CD-ROMs, videos, audiotapes and books.

Demonstrating Progress

Your child's progress is measured by continuous assessment. During the course the class teacher will set speaking, writing, reading and listening tasks in class.

Provided that your child has attended at least 75% of their classes per semester, they will receive a report on their progress and the areas they need to improve. A certificate will be issued at the end of the course.

Working in Partnership

We understand that you want to be involved in and support your child's learning. To this end we have created an outline of the Download PDF Document roles and responsibilities of all those involved in the learning process.
