HKUST is an international research university comprising four schools: science; engineering; business and management; and humanities and social science. Undergraduate and postgraduate courses are available in all four schools, although no undergraduate degrees are awarded by the School of Humanities and Social Science. The student body totals over 9,000. The university is located in the scenic Clear Water Bay area of the New Territories, with bus, minibus and nearby MTR links to other parts of the city.
HKUST has established exchange links with over 140 institutions from more than 25 countries. It has nine UK partners. Details of exchange arrangements and courses can be found on individual school websites. Online information regarding full-time undergraduate studies for non-local students is available through the International and Mainland Students and Programs Office website. Postgraduate students and self-financed visiting students can check application details from the Admissions, Registration and Records Office.
International students can apply for shared campus accommodation and there are orientation sessions to introduce students to life in Hong Kong. In addition, a buddy system for exchange students and social activities, including Hong Kong tours, are provided by the International and Mainland Students and Programs Office.
