Hong Kong’s location and cultural mix make it the ideal platform to gain an introduction to Mainland China and how it works. Meanwhile, a growing number of mainland businesses are now seeking to go international through setting up in Hong Kong. Visiting Mainland China from Hong Kong is straightforward. Day trips can be made to nearby Shenzhen, just across the border, and many parts of neighbouring Guangdong province, while most major mainland cities, including Beijing, Shanghai and Xian, are within three hours’ flight time of Hong Kong. UK students will need a separate travel visa to visit.
