This summer the British Council is bringing Forward Motion: Artists’ Choice for its Hong Kong premiere screening, as part of the Jumping Frames International Dance Video Showcase 2009 presented by City Contemporary Dance Company.
Co-produced by the British Council and South East Dance, Forward Motion is a compilation of historic, seminal and groundbreaking dance videos that creates a stream of moving snapshots of the UK’s prolific screen dance output. It celebrates British screen dance talents as well as engages new artists, markets, audiences and participants in this exciting niche art form.
The programme Forward Motion: Artists’ Choice includes Lloyd Newson’s multi-award winning The Cost Of Living, introduced by Akram Khan. Other high profile contributors include Russell Maliphant, Shobana Jeyasingh and Michael Clark introducing, amongst others, Chris Cunningham’s music video for Portishead’s Only You.
