Where can i look for information on UK courses or the education system?

The Education UK website provides a searchable database of over 250,000 courses at all levels, including distance learning and short courses.  General information on UK education can also be found.

WHICH UNIVERSITY IS THE BEST FOR MY SUBJECT?

There is no official list ranking universities in the UK because there is no such ranking exercise. As all universities (except the University of Buckingham) are publicly funded, institutions are subject to a number of rigorous external quality assurances mechanisms in addition to their own internal quality systems.

HOW DO I APPLY?

Undergraduates apply through UCAS, while Postgraduate students apply directly to the university.

DO YOU OFFER ANY SCHOLARSHIPS OR FUNDING?

Funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in London, the British Council Hong Kong manages the British Chevening Scholarship for postgraduate studies.  Individual institutions and organisations also offer scholarships for different programmes.

CAN I WORK WHILE I STUDY IN THE UK?

Yes, full time students can work up to 20 hours per week during term time and full time in the holidays. Find out more about working hours.

HOW CAN I FIND OUT THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS AND OTHER INFORMATION ABOUT COURSES THAT INTEREST ME?

Visit the UCAS website for undergraduate courses or contact the individual institutions that interest you to request a prospectus.

WHAT ARE THE UK'S ACADEMIC TERM DATES?

You can find these dates on the DfES website.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PUBLIC AND STATE SCHOOL?

A public school is independent of local or central government control while a state school is administered by the state.
