Britain has experienced far-reaching reforms in the public sector in recent years. The British Council collaborates with Greek ministries in organising seminars and visits for senior decision-makers and managers, focusing on areas of priority for the Greek government.
The aim in supporting Greece’s reform plans is to create awareness of British practice and foster contact and partnership between key institutions in the two countries.
Much of our work has been in the development of the capacity of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in the north and south by facilitating joint co-operation on common issues in seminars and workshops. We also engage with representatives of central and local government to develop ways of increasing participation through the inclusion of civil society in decision making.
