The EU & Me project aims to create greater mutual understanding between young people in nine countries in South East Europe and the UK by exploring issues of identity and culture. The project will look at the extent to which young people's sense of identity is influenced by history, religion, culture, ethnicity, gender, age and 'being European'.
In a series of lively discussions and debates, young people from different countries in the South East Europe region (Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, FYROM) and the UK will share their thoughts and feelings on issues that are important to them.
The themes for discussion will be chosen in order not only to highlight the different situations of young people in the region, but also to reveal their different approaches to similar issues. The stories told may be sad, humorous, quirky or inspirational but, ultimately, they will reflect the diversity and imagination of the speakers.
At a national level, the purpose of these personal stories is to give young people across the South East Europe region a voice. At an international level, it is to give them the opportunity to gain a unique insight into each other’s culture and way of life.
