PANOS KARNEZIS

In this second literary event taking place as part of our UK writers in Greece programme, we proudly present acclaimed Greek-born writer Panos Karnezis.

Panos Karnezis belongs to a unique group of contemporary Greek writers currently enjoying international acclaim and representing both the Greek and UK literary scenes. At this event Panos Karnezis will present his new book The Birthday Party and answer questions about his work from the audience.

A few words about Panos Karnezis ...
Panos Karnezis was born in Amaliada in 1967 and moved to England in 1992. He studied engineering and worked in industry, and later studied for an MA in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia. He now lives in London.

His first book Little Infamies (2002) is a collection of connected short stories set in a nameless Greek village, while his second book The Maze (2004) is a novel set in Anatolia in 1922. It was shortlisted for the 2004 Whitbread First Novel Award. Short stories by Panos Karnezis have been broadcast by BBC Radio 4 and have appeared in Granta, New Writing 11, Prospect, and Areté.

The event will be held in Greek. Admission free.

Dr David Connolly, Associate Professor, School of English, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, will present the writer and facilitate the discussion with the public.
