KEN LOACH AT THE 21ST PANORAMA OF EUROPEAN CINEMA

We are delighted to continue our long-standing collaboration with Eleftherotypia's Panorama of European Cinema, which is entering its third decade this year.

Over eighty films will be screened at the Apollon Cinemax Class (9–19 October 2008) and the Mikrokosmos Filmcenter (9–15 October 2008).

Ken Loach, one of the UK’s most prominent filmmakers and Cannes Film Festival Palme d’Or winner for his film The Wind that Shakes the Barley, will attend the closing ceremony in Athens on Sunday 19 October 2008, where he will be presented with the Panorama Special Award for his contribution to the art of cinema.

SCREENING OF KES
The festival's The Following Day tribute features the first screening in Greece of Ken Loach's 1969 film Kes. The film tells the story of the relationship that develops between a boy and a kestrel, and explores the connection between humans and nature and the need that each has for freedom in a society that is trying to extert control over them.

DISCUSSION WITH KEN LOACH
As part of the festival’s wrap-around events, Ken Loach has been invited to conduct an open discussion with young film directors, actors and film students and answer questions about his work.
