Sarah Michelotti has been Head of the English Language Programmes in the Department of Languages and Foreign Translation Studies at the University of Surrey since 2000. She taught English as a Foreign Language for many years, including English for the Cambridge exams, Business English and English for Academic Purposes. She also has experience in teacher training and was previously Director of Studies for a private language school.
Sarah holds a BA (Hons) in French, the RSA diploma in TEFLA and an MA in Applied Linguistics from the University of Reading. Her professional interests include spoken language, study skills and discipline-specific English for Academic Purposes. An important area of her work involves helping students to improve their academic writing skills through analysis of genre-based features of academic writing. She is also enthusiastic about developing specialised courses to help students with their English language and study skills in specific departments at the University.
