Sacha DeVelle holds a PhD in Linguistics (language processing) from the University of Queensland (Australia). It was there that she gained extensive experience preparing students for the IELTS exam. She also taught Second Language Acquisition, Theoretical Linguistics and Spanish subjects at university level and co-ordinated the Psycholinguistics Testing Laboratory for a number of years.
Dr. DeVelle’s exposure to both the laboratory and the classroom provides invaluable experience into the learning processes that underlie the IELTS test. Her role as Research and Validation Officer for Cambridge ESOL is concerned with all aspects of IELTS, including the Funded Research Programme, the IELTS Masters award, design and application of new research projects and statistical analyses.
Dr. DeVelle’s research interests include the cognitive processes that underlie language processing at the semantics/pragmatics interface, and all aspects of IELTS performance assessment.
