Janet Ilieva leads on education market intelligence and research at the British Council. Over the past four years her main research area has been internationalisation of education and global student mobility across the globe.
Janet is currently involved in three major research projects at the British Council, which include forecasting the international student mobility (project carried out with the Economist Intelligence Unit). She is also working on a student decision making study which tracks online students’ decision making processes when planning to study abroad and a study on international graduate employability.
Since 2007 she has been a board member of the Association for Studies in International Education. Janet joined the advisory group on Project ATLAS in 2005, a project initiated by the Institute for International Education (US), which tracks international student mobility across the globe.
Janet's background is in macroeconomics. Her previous experience includes lecturing economics at the University of Veliko Turnovo (Bulgaria), guest lectures at the University of Calabria (Italy) and the University of Applied Sciences in Ludwigsburg (Germany).
Janet will contributed to session 2a - Forecasting international student demand.
