INTERNATIONAL FORUM OF THE NOVEL
‘Reality and the Novel’

The Villa Gillet in Lyon is celebrating its 20th anniversary and is organising  ‘TheInternational Forum of the Novel’ in collaboration with le Monde des Livres.

For the past 20 years, the Villa Gillet has beeen inviting authors from all over the world to meet together to discuss questions related to new forms of fiction. The core of the Forum will consist of lectures and round tables.  Guests will include French and foreign authors and critics, with public readings in different parts of the city, by the authors themselves and by actors.

A number of different themes will be addressed, such as « literature and commitment’: ‘the power of words’,  ‘novelists and the reality of their characters’, ‘the limitations of the novel”,  ‘the nature of I”,  etc.

Writers from the UK participating in the Forum are Tariq Ali, John Banville (Ireland), A S Byatt, James Flint, Tobias Hill, Robert McLiam Wilson (Ireland), and James Meek
