In the aftermath of the Asian Tsunami, trainers from the Pan Centre for Intercultural Arts visited Sri Lanka to conduct workshops with trainers in Colombo and refugees on the East Coast of Sri Lanka.

Work focused on the need for children to re-learn to play; reconnect with their friends and peers; find a creative channel for their experiences; and creatively re-imagine their futures beyond the immediate trauma. The workshops were targeted at trainers, to equip them to work with traumatised young people directly over a sustainable period of time.

Twenty-eight people in total were taught the necessary skills to carry on the work and there was a strong willingness from both participants and relief agencies to pool resources and further the work of theatre for development in this region.
