ARTISTIC POLICY
The West Yorkshire Playhouse is one of Britain’s most exciting and active producing theatres, working at the heart of its community and the forefront of national and international theatre, realising one of the most innovative, diverse and vibrant artistic policies in the UK. The work focuses upon new writing for the stage, theatre for young people and major productions with leading artists and collaborations with Britain’s brightest touring ensembles. The Playhouse is also home to a leading Arts Development team, which delivers a groundbreaking programme of education and community initiatives and is engaged in the development of culturally diverse art and artists.

Don Quixote By Colin Teevan and Pablo Lay. Cevantes’ classic work directed by notable Catalan director, Josep Galinda in a wild contemporary production. Presented in English. (120 mins, 10 on stage, 19 on the road.)
Flat Stanley By Jeff Brown and Scott Nash, adapted by Mike Kenny. Stage premiere of classic American children’s story of the adventures of Stanley Lambchop – as a flat boy. Co-produced with Polka Theatre. Suitable for 3–7 year-olds. (60 mins, 4 on stage, 9 on the road.)
Casanova By Carol Ann Duffy and Told by an Idiot in a co-production with West Yorkshire Playhouse and Lyric Hammersmith. Casanova is a woman! A scandalously funny and passionate reinvention of the Western World’s most notorious lover. (100 mins, 7 on stage, 11 on the road.)

The Grouch By Ranjit Bolt. Moliere’s Misanthrope adapted for the current political era in brilliant satirical verse. Directed by Sarah Esdaile. (120 mins, 7 on stage, 14 on the road.)
