ARTISTIC POLICY
Volcano aims to make fearless and inspiring theatre for intelligent, imaginative people of all kinds. The company’s energetic, unpredictable and arresting work combines strong visual impact and physicality with intelligent text. The repertoire ranges from experimental new writing, devised and site-specific work to iconoclastic re-workings or deconstructions of the classics.

CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
A Few Little Drops – The Extraordinary Life of Water An exploration of the political, cultural and aesthetic significance of water. Outdoor festival piece performed within a specially-designed structure. Suitable for all ages. (60 mins, 10 on the road.)

Reasons to be Silent An audio-guided tour of an unoccupied house from basement to attic. Site-specific piece with live performance, video, and texts by Strindberg and Bachelard. (60 mins, 3 on the road.)

FUTURE PRODUCTION
What Am I Doing Here? Devised piece for six diverse performers, using the writings of WG Sebald.

WRAP-AROUND
A Few Little Drops is accompanied by an interactive educational water-science show for 8–12 year-old schoolchildren. Other possible activities include: water-themed workshops for adults using vocal and physical improvisation, storytelling or creative writing; professional development seminars for small cultural organisations; web-based projects such as web-cam water diary exchanges or developing a water resources site for education and research. Reasons to be Silent includes workshops with local drama/theatre students who will also participate in the performance. All productions can be accompanied by workshops, residencies and talks in physical theatre, voice, devising and adapting.
