1. Exploiting authentic materials for English language teaching
Project manager: Ms Kamal Kumari Bhandari (Timilsina), Tribhuvan University, Nepal, and Athar Munir Siddiqui, Pakistan
Teachers from: Nepal and Pakistan
Aims: To give teachers at intermediate level the skills to exploit authentic materials for language teaching in the classroom. To enhance teachers' confidence and competence. To enable teachers to transfer these skills to other teachers to increase the number of teachers who will benefit from this training. The ultimate objective is to provide learners with trained teachers who will motivate them to use readily available resources for ongoing language and development.

1. Workshop on designing materials for human rights education and English language development for upper secondary students in Pakistan, Azerbaijan and Nepal

Teachers from: Azerbaijan, Nepal and Pakistan
Aims:
Provide training in human rights education to teachers of English
Provide initial training in human rights syllabus design to teachers of English
Design an innovative framework for human rights education and English language development relevant to the South Asian and Caspian Basin contexts
Provide language development opportunities for the participants
Raise teachers’ intercultural awareness as the basis for teaching English for international communication
Encourage further networking and co-operation among participants over the finalising of the syllabus and the implementation in class
Create opportunities for future projects at the national or regional level
Increase the role of the teachers’ associations in the design and delivery of ELT projects

2. Study skills project workshop (initial stage; partly funded)

Aims:
Evaluate the initial project proposal in terms of feasibility, sustainability and required impact
Finalize SMART objectives
Identify timelines for each stage of the project
Identify and allocate clear roles for group members
Cost analysis
Agree to follow-up actions.

1. Publication of Language Policy, Planning and Practice: a South Asian Perspective
Project manager: Sabiha Mansoor, Pakistan
Teachers and policy makers from: Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka
Aims: The book will
Present a regional perspective that will help to bring the countries of South Asia on a single platform, and share their views and experiences on Language Planning and English language Teaching (ELT)
Bring with it the possibility of future collaborations with countries in the region in terms of research and investigation
Cover comprehensively the Pakistani and the South Asian perspective on language planning, as well as the reflections of different authors on various areas of English language teaching (ELT)
Contain articles on a relatively new area: ELT and Information Technology.
At the end of the project as many as 500 copies of the book will be circulated in Pakistan and major South Asian countries.
