ELTeCS projects

Europe and Central Asia 2004    

Project proposals are assessed by the ELTeCS Europe and Central Asia project proposal evaluation committee. The committee consists of the Co-ordinator, Manager English Language Networking, and regional ELTeCS representatives.

1. Management training for Teacher Association (TA) committee members
Project manager: Tanya Kirilova, Bulgaria
Teachers from: Albania, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Kosovo, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia
Aims:

To increase the management capacity of Teachers Associations so that they can be run professionally for the benefit of their members   
To establish a regional system of networking, co-ordination and management of TA projects

2. Setting up an Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) compass for EFL teachers

Project manager: Imre Szabo, Hungary
Teachers from: Hungary, Romania, Serbia
Aims:

To set up a collection of useful ICT tools that EFL teachers may use in their practice, together with guidelines on how to use them, and with examples of best use   
To facilitate the exchange of information and networking among teachers and trainers interested in using ICTs in their teaching   
To exploit the potentials of an existing regional team of teachers   
To publish this collection of ICT tools on a CD and website supported by the regional British Councils

3. Supported open learning for English Teachers in Central Asia - six-day planning workshop

Aims:

To create a regional INSETT network   
To widen the impact of the 'In-service Distance Course for Teachers of English' produced by British Council Romania   
To discuss the lessons learnt from the Romanian project   
To discuss local INSETT contexts, external factors, risks and assumptions (based on the baseline study, needs analyses and discussion of the content of the coursebook   
To discuss the theoretical and practical issues of open/distance learning for INSETT   
To produce a detailed action plan for a 3-year pilot project to develop Supported Open Learning for INSETT in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan   
To produce outlines of a course handbook which will supplement the Romanian coursebook
